Baby Jean-Paul is only days old.He is sitting side saddle in the wrap(an Ellaroo) Both feet are on one side, and in one part of the "X" and his bottom and back are in the other "X" the cumber band part can then pulled up and over to keep him tight and secure.

When you put the wrap on, you are holding your child and the wrap goes over the childs back. then with one arm, you pull the length of the wrap out as far as your arm can open out, and then a little more, then you bend your elbow and reach it around your back.over the opposite shoulder and tuck it under your childs leg. Then with the other side, you repeat the same thing.bringing it back around to the front, and tuck it under hte childs leg. then you bring both straps around to the back and tie it or tuck it up. Your baby is Hugged and wrapped close.
Here is a short wrap, and you find your center, and then make a V in the back. then take the tails and bring cross them, and bring it back to the V in the back. Then you take one side, and tuck it through the V, tie it to the other side in a knot.
*Front facing is ok for short durations,or when there is not excessive stimulation, or if you make sure that baby is properly "seated" and legs aren't just dangling. When you put baby in, gently tilt them so that they are leaning abainst your chest, and babys legs are in a more seated position. the sling is basically a chair seat*

    Huggerwrap

Wrap around methods distribute your baby’s weight throughout your torso not pulling down on your shoulder muscles.
This style of babywearing offers total head and neck support for newborn, premature and sleeping babies. the huggerwrap is a fabulous carrier for babies that weigh from 5-35 pounds(approximately).

This type of carrier snuggles baby in close to your heart, while giving you optimum feelings of safety and security. Your baby will feel hugged and closely wrapped to mimic the womb. With your baby nestled in the middle of an X the cross wrap carry is (in my opinion)about the safest and most secure of all holds.
It only takes a moment to learn, and then you can go on walks. get groceries or get some house work accomplished.

Even when you are at your busiest with your other children, or busy doing your household chores. If you need to-you can even bend forward to pick something off the floor without your baby moving or sliding away from your body.

Using this type of carrier, and ring sling carriers reduces compression of your baby's spine, a concern which is often associated with most front baby carriers.
Babies love to be snuggled in close. Hearing a heart beat. Babies also like to see what is going on. While it is better to have baby facing in, hip straddling or in a side sitting position. For short periods of time there is nothing wrong with having baby facing out-PROVIDING that your baby is still in a seated position, leaning back against your chest and NOT dangling by his crotch area. If baby is straight up, and leaning forward then baby is not in the best position. Baby should be leaning back with head against your chest, and fabric spread out nicely between the legs.
Having baby in a cradle position while in a wrap is fine, HOWEVER most babies do not prefer this position, UNLESS they are eating. Please be sure in any position that your baby does not have chin on his chest. Baby should have his neck slightly flexed so that he can get the best amount of oxygen.

Check your baby regularly. If you hear baby breathing very loudly, then please adjust his position so that he can get more air.

Please wear your baby responsibly not do something that could be dangerous like riding a bike, skating, skiing or playing basket ball.
